Some wise teeth

Standard

I’m sorry it’s been awhile since my last post, but I’ve just got back from having my wisdom teeth out – all four in one swoop, so it had to be done under general antithetic.

I’d like to thank all my family and friends for looking after me the last few days, and share this lovely picture that my housemate sent me while I was away:

The next post is in the pipe line – but when writing it made me laugh, which hurt my slightly swollen face, so I had to take a break – but it’s coming!

A conversation with my little sister.

Standard

My little sister is a real girly girl, the colours I see her most wearing is pink and purple. Ever since she has been able to work the zipper on my handbag she has been trying to get hold of my lip gloss. This summer she has been trying out some make up, and asked me for some help and tips so I told her about a time when I was on the Isle of White and having a conversation with a make-up artist (photo below) She was talking about how the natural look can be hard to achieve, this is because you do NOT want people to notice your make-up, you want people to see YOU. So although there are times to wear quite a bit of make up (colourful in my case!) with your frock on, but on a day to day basis I’m now a big fan of minimal, natural looking make-up make up. Make-up artist and company founder Bobbie Brown’s ethos behind her range of make-up is it is for “women who want to look like themselves only prettier and more confident”, so we should use make-up to our advantage to enhance our natural assets rather than covering them all up with a thick layer, not only is this not great for our skin, but we can become dependent on it.

Personally I use Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint shade 1 for my face, then use shade 3 to add some contouring for my cheek bones, nose and jar line. Then I use Benefit Camouflage powder under my eyes and any ares that might need a bit of extra cover up, then apply my favorite blusher from Nars Make-Up to the apples of my cheeks, mascara (sometimes a quick sweep of a light coloured eye shadow to help define my eyes)and then either lip balm or a light opaque lip stick that goes with my (very pale!) skin tone. As an added bonus it only takes 5-10 minutes in the morning, which means I can have a longer lie in!

So this is where my little sister is starting with make-up, going for the fresh, natural look.

iband Annie

Standard

A band I’ve newly come across and LOVE is Wires as well as being very talented and are also very clever, (this blow me away after the amount of times I have tried to use garage band!) In this video released over this summer it is played using an iBand. A beautiful song played over the famous piece of classical music Gymnopdie No1 by Eric Satie which used to play out of a music box I had when I was little, so it took me right back to my childhood!

On another note I think its fitting to share this video after the recent passing of Steve Jobs, the co-founder Apple, who would of ever imagined that when he started people would be creating music of the devises he invented.

A special thank you to Mia for her musically knowledge!
